The 11 Penalties Bryce let slide… here they are:
01:21 – First scrum, early shove from Australia. Should have been a free kick to SA.
03:15 – South Africa drives Australia back in scrum, both Samo and Pocock break loose from the scrum, it should have been penalty to SA.
18:26 – Obstruction, Genia dodges Gurthro behind Pocock. The ref is standing right there and allows play to continue. Should have been a penalty to SA.
19:00 – SA line out. Pocock joins the ruck with from the back, the whole SA pack are engaged in the ruck. Pocock does not let go of the ball, should have been a professional foul penalty to SA, he got away with murder.
19:00 – Loose Play, Vickerman plays Brussow off the ball with the shoulder, no arms, cheap shot. He injures Brussow and Brussow leaves the field. Should have been a RED CARD
20:23 – Burger drives to the goal line, 1 meter out. Burger is tackled but not released. Samo plays the ball on the ground, right in front of the Ref. Should have been a YELLOW CARD, professional foul and penalty to SA. Is Bryce Lawrence blind???
24:48 – Pocock does not release the player, he plays the ball on the ground, this is a ruck, he is not allowed to play the ball. Should have been a penalty. At this stage Pocock should have received a yellow card.
33:47 – Bryce Lawrence awards penalty – Boks should have take penalty as it was kickable position. Seconds later he reverses penalty for holding, but Genia never releases JP Peterson. Game changing moment. There was no advantage !!! They should have been brought back for the original penalty, right in front of the posts.
47:42 – Bryce Lawrence calls forward pass from Fourie to Habana. NOT A CHANCE, I checked it again in super slow motion. NOT A FORWARD.
51:58 – Pocock again, slows down the ball at the ruck. It should have been a penalty and at this stage a red card for Pocock.
65:47 – Pocock again, it is a ruck, he plays the ball right in front of the Bryce again. The ruck was formed 30 seconds ago. It should have been a penalty !!
75:35 – Bryce awards scrum to Aussies for holding up the ruck. He does not allow time to recycle the ball. It was a high tackle by James Horwill, it should have been a penalty to SA. Game changing moment !!
77:19 – Bismarck holds up O-Connor in the tackle. Bryce awards scrum to Ausies, but just 2 minutes ago he awarded scrum to Aussies for exactly the same play. pathetic !!
78:30 – High tackle on Hougard, right in front of the ref again, he chooses to ignore it. Should have been a penalty to SA.
Sour grapes? I think not.
How can refs like Bryce be allowed to ref in this day and age in this era…? He is and was a disgrace to to the game that we all love so much… It is the worst game blown i have ever seen in all my life… It looks like he done this on purpose to make them win! What did Bryce get out of this? If he is allowed to bend the rules as he wish that are supposed to be the same for every team world wide, how will this affect the ref’s in the future… who will gain out of this? Rugby…i think not!!! The game of rugby will change if this ref’s isnt taken on by the IRB. The outcome of games wont be determined anymore by the best team, but the ref’s who will decide who they want to win the game… As clearly seen in Bryce Lawrence’s game!!!
It is with great sadness for rugby supporters that corruption has now entered our beloved sport. We have always been under the misapprehension that rugby was above it. But money plays a huge role, and as this rugby world cup was touted to be the last in New Zealand, and the fact that New Zealand itself could only win the world cup with the RWC inception in 1987, this opened the door for massive corruption within New Zealand, with Paddy O’Brien as head of the IRB referee board at the forefront. Old cheats, like Nigel Owens, Wayne Barnes, Steve Walsh, Stuart Dickinson and low and behold, Bryce Lawrence, where simply co-opted to skew the tournament the way of New Zealand. So may Australia the Sh1t out of New Zealand this weekend.
It also seems that the SA Rugby board is in on this, as I can show you emails from Jurie Roux the CEO of SARU, telling me to mind my own business and go through the rugby structure, i.e. become a member of some club and complain through the channels, as if I as a rugby supporter had no say. How pathetic is that?
The only way to counter this is to simply, as in cricket allow the captain of the rugby team to have the right to request a review. He has a limited number of reviews, and if his review is proved to be incorrect and the ref correct he loses a review, if the captain is correct he retains his reviews. Say two reviews per half. There will be a huge outcry especially from New Zealanders as this will take away their ability to manipulate the outcome of games. But as in cricket it must and will prevail, there is simply too much opportunity for a common morally corrupt biased criminal to skew a game for the sake of financial gain.
If we had these, and it was possible to review the incident where there were hands in the scrum right in front of the Aussie posts we would have scored at least 3 points. If we had the chance to review the so-called forward pass to Patrick Lambie we would have had a further 7 points.
It is clear that tight games such as these hinge on one or two decisions going either way.
This is a check and balance that will simply correct the matter.
As for Bryce Lawrence, he must be ostracised, he must not be allowed to ref in South Africa and he must not be allowed to ref any game where SA teams are involved. However I doubt if the spineless SA Rugby Board has the guts to stand up for our players, our team and our country.
I will be sending this email to SARU, the Beeld newspaper and the English Telegraph, as the next world cup is in England, and if they do not proactively prevent these debacles from happening again, they will, under the auspices of the New Zealanders who have taken over the reputation as thugs and criminals from the Australians.
Thanks and I hope you read this on radio, please ask callers and listeners if they agree, I am willing to take a bet it will be radio show of the year.

It is 12 penalties. The try the Wallabies scored had 3 penelised infringements according to Andre Watson that was on Super rugby last night. Pocock joined the ruck from the side and he kicked the ball to the Wallabies side.
We lost. Take the good with the bad. Stop whining and move on.
yes Growler, we can stop whining and move on but the issue at hand still remains. So whats next?
What i fail to understand is why they do not use the Television Ref in such important games like these. Can someone tell me what damage it could of caused by referring those crucial decisions to the television ref? I can only think of one thing that would of happend. The correct decision would of been taken!!!!
Henk, I agree with you completely. I’d like to see some sort of challenge system similar to the one in cricket. Give each captain (or the coaching staff who have a better view) 2 challenges per match so if something gets missed by the ref they can have it reviewed.
I doubt the IRB would implement this but we can dream.
Bryce is a cheat and it was clear for the whole world to see. A stiff prison sentence for match fixing will be appropriate. Denail of his VISA to SA will also be appreciated. Satans child!
